A FINE SELECTION OF PHRASES & AHH'S is the first installment of the recently founded label Cut It Up Fresh.
Founders and scratch DJs Martin Did It and Dope Styles dug deep into their record collections to bring this pure 100% ultra-pitch scratch record to the scratch community.
The concept consists of curating 13 skip-proof loops with original multi-syllabic vocal phrases on each side.
A uniform structure was applied, with the first 180 degrees of rotation on side A and the first 270 degrees on side B providing the vocal phrases. The last 180 degrees on side A and the last 90 degrees on side B each offer a longer ahh or fresh sample for cutting and scratching.
Not least because the samples on the record don't drift, it literally invites hours of scratch seshs and needle-dropping to create new sentences from the existing material.
Phax Mastering was brought on board to ensure the perfect deep cut and an assertive, sharp sound. He has already created the vinyl master cuts for several scratch tools, including Zarecords 3 and At The Ave Breaks 5.
The cover was designed by Artist Gloria Brillowska. The back cover features an illustration by experimental musician Felix Kubin.
On the Flipside of the cover there is also a QR-Code which links to a weblooper by cut it up fresh!
